In 1996, Thomas Walter sold the practice to his associates, Gordon D. Putnam and Andrew Lawson. As a result of a coin toss, a new partnership was formed and the firm name became Putnam & Lawson.

In 2014, Samantha C. Huculak started with Putnam & Lawson, working primarily in Family Law, Real Estate and Wills & Estates.

In January 2021, Samantha joined Gordon D. Putnam as a partner and the firm was renamed Putnam Law LLP. Andrew Lawson continues to practice in a half-time capacity as General Counsel.

On June 1, 2022, Samantha became Managing Partner as Gord was appointed the bench of the Provincial Court of Alberta, now the Alberta Court of Justice.
